Self-control is influenced by what behavioral psychologists call  social proof or what is commonly thought of as peer pressure. In other words, the people around us influence our behavior, making both willpower and temptation contagious. For example, if you’re out to dinner and everyone is ordering dessert, you are more likely to do the same, even if you are on a diet!

So ask yourself, what is a willpower challenge I have right now? And am I surrounding myself with people who will move me forward or hold me back?
